Signing your name on a document, whether it’s a lease, contract, or letter, is more than just a formality. It’s a legal act, and if you’re not fully aware of what you’re agreeing to, you could be exposing yourself to unnecessary risk.

That’s why it’s a great idea to have your documents reviewed by a qualified attorney before taking any action. Luckily, as an IAM member, you have access to a valuable benefit: free document review through your IAM Legal & Personal Protection Plan.

What Can Be Reviewed?

Our experienced attorneys are available to review a wide range of documents, including:

  • Car leases
  • Apartment leases
  • Police reports
  • Contracts
  • Insurance paperwork
  • Collections correspondence
  • Real estate agreements
  • Letters from government agencies (city, state, or federal)

Why Legal Review Matters

Having a lawyer review your documents ensures you:

  • Understand what the document means
  • Know if a response is required
  • Take the correct next steps
  • Avoid potential legal or financial trouble

This service offers you clarity and peace of mind, helping you protect your rights and make informed decisions.

How the Process Works

To have a document reviewed by an IAM-preferred lawyer:

  1. Fill out the General Legal Help Form.
  2. A lawyer will contact you.
  3. You’ll scan and email your document.
  4. The lawyer will review it within two business days and advise you on its meaning and next steps.

Cost to You: $0

This benefit is completely free for IAM members. A lawyer will review up to 10 pages per document at no cost, and there’s no limit to how many documents you can submit.

If any additional legal services are recommended relating to your document, the lawyer will discuss those with you before moving forward.

Don’t Wait Until There’s a Problem

Many members only seek legal help after an issue has already come up. But the best time to review a document is before you sign or respond. Take advantage of this free benefit now to avoid complications later.
